Tabitha & EJ: Wedding

Tabitha and EJ’s wedding was this past weekend at Lake Receptions in Mount Dora. I love going there, because that’s where I married my favorite guy in the whole world 4 years ago. Tabitha and EJ are just a fun couple. They were constantly glancing towards each other and laughing. They even did a happy dance as they exited their ceremony. They are so sweet, so in love, and just a lot of fun.
Tabitha and EJ, I hope you’re enjoying your honeymoon in the Bahamas. Thanks for letting me be a part of your day!

I loved this sweet moment during the final prayer at the ceremony.

Exiting the ceremony with a skip in their steps!

I thought these were so cute. Lake Receptions made these fun veggie treats in martini glasses. The dressing for the veggies was in the bottom of the glass. Super cute.

The Newlywed Game. The DJ asked them questions and they had to hold up the beer bottle if their answer was EJ and the wine glass if their answer was Tabitha. It was pretty funny.

Janice Barham - Hi Heidi!! I LOVE the pictures of E.J. & Tabitha's wedding. My name is Janice Barham and I am Billy's wife. We were the DJs at their wedding. I apologize for not introducing myself at their wedding. I was 22 weeks pregnant and beginning to experience some difficulties with premature labor. It is extremely unlike us not to stop and introduce ourselves, and I sincerely apologize.

But I wanted to drop you a small note, and thank you for being one of the best photographers that we have ever worked with. Tabitha has always spoken very highly of you, and it wasn't until the wedding and their pictures, that I can truly understand why. Your pictures are amazing, and your professionalism was outstanding. I hope that I get to work with you in the future!May 5, 2009 – 6:59 am

It’s a Boy: Newborn

Allow me to introduce you to the “Baby Dreams” announcement series. I just created these samples last night. They are 5×5 flat cards. The top half represents the front of the card, and the bottom half is the back. I’ll be making some baby girl samples soon, but only the boy cards are up today in honor of….(drum roll please)
My best friend, Stephanie, is having another baby boy! I got a phone call this morning after she and her hubby left the doctor’s office. She already has 1 amazing little boy, Parker, and now she’s going to be blessed with 2! I know we all were kind of hoping for the chance to buy pink, frilly dresses, but I’m thrilled to meet the new little guy. My only concern is that this poor child will remain nameless. It took his mommy & daddy most of the 1st pregnancy to name his big brother, and now they have to come up with another boy name. She had several little girl names that she liked, but no boy names. We’ll see what they come up with!  I’ll be seeing Steph, her cute baby bump, and Parker in 3 weeks when they come for my graduation. Can’t wait!
Here are the new announcements:
Option 1

Option 2

Option 3

Michelle - ok, these announcements alone make me want to have another!! Beautiful! And yay again for Steff!!! It’s going to be a rowdy house for awhile, and the boys will be best buds for life.April 14, 2009 – 4:39 pm

Elijah: Newborn

You can always count on your best friends to tell you the truth. You know, “I don’t care how in style that outfit is, please don’t buy it”. Or some days, “Heidi, you really need to update your blog. I’ve been looking at the same post for a week”. That was the phone call I got from one of my best friends today. I decided that if I was getting a phone call from out of state asking me about it, it must be time.
To be perfectly honest with everyone here on the Internet, I have never ever ever in my whole life been as busy as I am right now. I am not complaining, because I’m thrilled to have had so many weddings and portraits this spring. It would be no problem at all if this busy spring didn’t happen to coordinate with my final semester of school. All I have to do is survive the rest of April. May 2nd will be my graduating class’s reception for our Thesis Exhibition, and then May 9th is the big day! So thank you for your patience. I will be so much more prompt in returning emails, phone calls and photos after this month is over! Oh, and I’ll try to be better at updating the blog, Steph.
Here’s this beautiful baby boy, Elijah. I photographed him when he was only 1 week old! The sooner the better when it comes to newborns. They are only that tiny for such a short time. Elijah will go down in the Heidi Mitchell Photography history books for being the easiest newborn to photograph ever. He was perfect. He even had his eyes open for most of the session. I am looking forward to going back to see this little guy throughout his 1st year!
(P.S. Check out his mommy & daddy’s website. If you’re planning a wedding or an event, they can light it for you and help make your photos so much better!)

Lauren Kelly - Heidi, you probably have the best job on the planet :)April 14, 2009 – 3:03 pm

James: Senior

Meet James. Or as I call him, Jamie. (He prefers James, but he’ll always be Jamie to me) This is my husband’s cousin, and he’ll be graduating from Mount Dora Bible this year. I think he was about 10 years old when I started dating Mike, so it’s hard for me to believe that he’ll be graduating! He’s the family tech guy. He’s pretty awesome at computers and all things technical. He’s hoping to attend UCF this fall to major in computer science or engineering or something really hard that I could never do. We are all really proud of him! Here are just a couple of my favorites from our session.

Love in Action: Personal

You could feel the anticipation as we waited in the corridor outside the courtroom. Well, you could feel it in the adults. The little guy was cool as a cucumber. They finally called for us to come in. As we entered the room, the gravity of the moment fell on her, and she began to cry. Someone said to her, “Oh. Don’t cry”. I turned to them and told them there was no use telling her that. Let the tears flow. After 21 long months of waiting, their day had finally arrived. It had been 21 months of not knowing whether this child that they loved would be taken from them, or continue to be a part of their family.
The judge entered the room. Through misty eyes, she told them that children were the most important part of a family. She asked everyone in the room to promise that they would help care for him physically, emotionally and spiritually. She told us that this was simply a time to recognize legally the bond that had long existed among the 3 of them. Then she asked the little one to make her a promise. She knows he won’t remember, but she asked everyone to remind him one day. She asked him to promise that he would always obey his parents and realize how special he was. He was special because his parents chose him to be a part of their family. “If you agree to promise me this, then please ‘moo'”. (His favorite animal sound) He did. And with that, they became a family officially, although they had actually been one since the day they laid eyes on him.
I cried behind my camera as I watched my friends realize their dream right in front of me. It had been a struggle knowing that they would not be able to have children of their own. I know there were many tears shed, but on this day, I couldn’t help but think that this was perfect. This was exactly how their lives were meant to be.
I saw love on that day. I mean, real love in action. It didn’t matter that their skin was different colors or that they didn’t have the same blood running through their veins. Real love is so much stronger than all of that. As a Christian, I couldn’t help but to feel that I had seen a real-life example of Christ’s love for me. He chose me to be a part of His family. He adopted me as one of His own. Wow.
Bryan and Jamie, thank you for letting me be a part of this day. I am certain that this is one of the most powerful moments I have ever photographed. You guys deserve to be parents, and Johnathan deserves great parents. It’s perfect. I’m trilled that I was able to create the images that you will look back on when he turns 16, when he graduates, when he gets married. It was truly an honor.

Caimbrin - Just going through these picture its easy to see how awesome this day was! Congrats to Bryan and Jamie and little Johnathon.March 26, 2009 – 8:10 pm

Lauren Kelly - Heidi, such a God moment you witnessed right there. How POWERFUL!!!!March 26, 2009 – 4:48 pm
