Parker is 2 – Part One: Personal

They say you don’t get to choose your family. That’s only partially true. You may not get to choose the family you’re born into, but you can make the decision to add people to your family when you’re older. Stephanie has been in my life for 13 years now. (We have now officially been friends for more than half of our lives.) I just absolutely adore Steph, David and Parker. They’re part of my family, and I’m so thankful to have them.

Last week I went up to West Virginia to enjoy their company and also have some fun at Parker’s 2nd birthday party. Here are some party pics. Part two of this post will have the portraits we took while I was there. In only a few short weeks I’ll be flying back up to meet baby #2! Can’t wait!

The reason my skinny jeans wouldn’t button this week. I wish I was kidding.

Parker loves sports. Really. He thought he was in heaven when he walked in the living room and saw all the baseballs, basketballs, and soccer balls.

See, I did eat something healthy.

One of the fun things about visiting Stephanie a few times a year is getting to know her friends. This is me with Lynsey. Glad I got to see her and her family again this trip.

Amanda and Bryan: Engagement

I photographed Amanda and Bryan’s engagement session in historic downtown Eustis. They are truly an amazing couple. They are both in the military, and Bryan is stationed on the other side of the globe. These guys were Skypeing before Skype was even cool :) We had tons of fun talking and laughing during their session. They were so comfortably in love with each other that it was easy to capture great images.

heidimitchell - Thanks :) Lisa, yes it’s all natural light. It’s pretty rare for me to use any flash or anything during a portrait session. I love available light. So pretty!July 24, 2009 – 6:02 pm

Lisa Lotter - super session… I always love how crisp your images always are and they are all very clean…. what an awesome eye you have. Oh, these were all photographed in available light, right? Hope you enjoyed your little get away last week. see you soonJuly 22, 2009 – 5:16 pm

Weekend Getaway: Personal

While you are all sleeping tonight, I’ll be hating my alarm clock when it buzzes around 4:00 am. I’ll stumble to my bathroom, probably think for a second about trying to do something to my hair/face, then decide that I don’t care. I’ll be flying out before 7:00 am to go to Charleston, West Virginia. While some may find this hard to believe, it’s one of my favorite places on earth! It’s so wonderful because some of my favorite people live there. I’ll be visiting my best friend Stephanie and her family. We’ll be celebrating Parker’s 2nd birthday,  so I am sure there will be lots of cupcakes and photographs. (More of my favorite things!)

I’ll be out of the office from Thursday, July 16 through Monday, July 20th. I’ll be returning calls and emails on Tuesday, July 21st.

And because no post is complete without a photo, here’s the birthday boy last year. His party was a sailor theme last time, and his momma found this great little sailor suit. Love this guy!

Chloe: 7 months

This morning I photographed sweet, little Chloe. Her mom and I were crossing our fingers for good weather. The rain actually held out until later in the day, so we were able to do the session as planned. I’ve been photographing Chloe since she was less than a week old, and we’ll meet up again to do her 1 year session later this year. After our session, we went to breakfast and hung out some more. Chloe was so good, and she just gets cuter every time I see her!

Monica and Greg: Wedding

Last weekend was Monica and Greg’s wedding. The ceremony took place at the bride’s church, St. Paul’s in Leesburg. The reception was at Colony Cottage in The Villages. I had never been there before, but it was a beautiful shabby chic style venue with great places for photography. This wedding was extra special because I went to high school with both the bride and the groom, and Monica and I actually graduated together. It was great to catch up with them and photograph their special day!
