Favorite Blog Post Ever: Personal

While most of life is made up of tiny, seemingly meaningless moments, there are big moments that define us and change the course of our lives. I’m thankful to have experienced a few of these lately.

The first came several weeks ago as I watched two pink lines slowly appear across the screen of a home pregnancy test. I don’t know if there has ever been a more significant moment shared between my husband and me.

The next came last week when I saw our baby and heard that little heartbeat for the first time. I sat on that table and felt the flood of tears fall down my cheeks in absolute wonder of the miracle I was watching on the screen.

Even though my body has not felt so great recently, (I feel like I’ve lived in a perpetual state of nausea for weeks!) my heart has ben full. There are simply no words to describe the feelings. All I can say is that I have a very happy heart.

My great friend, Ashley McCormick, took these for us last week. I’ve seen similar pictures done before, and I was so happy to finally have my turn :)

And my amazing baker-friend-extraodinarie, Andrea, made these super cute cookies as part of the fun of the big blog announcement. This will surely not help with my goal to only gain 25 pounds.

If you’re wondering how or if this changes business, this little paragraph is for you. I have always known that I wanted to be a mom. When I was choosing a career to pursue, I had this in mind. Being a photographer is a fantastic job for a mom. I work from home during the week, and I set my own schedule. My husband also owns a business, so one of the perks of his job is also setting his own schedule. Mike & I are blessed to live near lots of family and friends, which we know will come in handy in the months to come. So while I will obviously have to take some time off after the baby is born, soon after I will return to business as usual. I’m sure I’ll learn how to edit with an infant in my lap, but part of being a mom is multi-tasking! And when I need to meet a client or shoot a session or wedding, my husband or mom or sister-in-law or friends or mom-in-law have all offered to help out. So I will be back to work as soon as possible :)

Melisa & Derrick: Wedding

Melisa and Derrick had a lovely fall wedding a few weekends ago. I met this sweet couple about a year ago when I photographed Melisa’s maternity session. You may have seen their adorable little girl, Chloe, on my blog before. I have loved getting to know this family, and I was so honored to photograph the wedding!

Sweet, little Chloe. She wasn’t too happy about being outside in the heat. Poor thing.

Angie & The Girls: Family

I photographed Angie and her two beautiful daughters at their home in Charleston. I just love doing sessions in people’s homes. It’s so personal and intimate, and Angie has a fabulously photogenic home. Here are just a few images of this lovely family :)

Jen & Co: Portraits

I’m finally back! And here is the 1st of 9 (yes, I said 9) portrait sessions that I did last week while staying in Charleston, West Virginia. I had such a great time visiting friends and enjoying a change of scenery for sessions.

Jen wanted me to photograph her with her whole family, including her hubby, parents, brother, sister-in-law, niece and nephews.  I immediately fell in love with their old barn when I got to their house. They were like, “You want to take pictures in front of the old barn?” And I was like, “Yes, please!” I have yet to come across a scene like that here in Central Florida! I just love the way they turned out. Here are just a few from our time together.

So cute :)

Fall Sessions in Charleston: Portraits

Just a quick reminder that I will be in Charleston, West Virginia, from Thursday, October 1 through Thursday, October 8. I will enjoy staying with my bestie Stephanie and her boys, but it’s not all fun and games. While I’m there, I will be photographing 9 portrait sessions! I have made some amazing new friends and clients during my many trips to visit Steph, and I promised them a trip this year dedicated to portraits! So I will be out of the office for a week. I’ll periodically  return emails and phone calls, but won’t be back in the office until Friday, October 9, so be patient with me :)

Check out the forecast for the next week. I am loving those highs, but not so sure about the lows. I’m usually wanting a winter coat at about 59 degrees, but I am definitely looking forward to some time with my friend, some great sessions and some awesome fall weather! See you soon!
