Orlando Mom’s Guide

During one of my breaks from doing laundry today (hey, you have to take breaks) I came across an email from the Orlando Mom’s Guide letting me know that I had been nominated and earned a place on their 2009 ballot for the Best Portrait Photographer category. Woo hoo! I was so excited and honored. Last year, I actually came in 2nd place! I’m hoping to make the top 3 again this year. The OMG website is dedicated to helping local moms find the best of the best in the greater Orlando area for their families. There are so many great businesses on the ballot, and I’m just thrilled to be a part!

If you want to participate, I would love your vote! Just click on the OMG link above and then click on the link that says “Vote”. If you don’t know the answers to some of the questions, it’s fine, but you do have to fill in at least 25% of the ballot to make yours count. Voting ends September 1st! Thank you so, so much to all of you who help support me. You are appreciated more than you could ever know!

And because every post is better with a picture, here’s a sneak peek at the wedding I’ll be blogging later this week :)

Danielle & Mark: Wedding

You never know when you will meet your soulmate. All you can hope for it that you come across that person as you go through life. Danielle and Mark were lucky enough to find each other. Last weekend they celebrated their marriage and the combining of their families in a small, intimate ceremony. With just their closest friends and family looking on, they made their promises as they stood under a beautiful oak tree surrounded by their children. To make things even sweeter, they are expecting a new addition to their beautiful family later this year.

Danielle and Mark chose to have a wedding that reflected their personalities. With cowboy hats, the simplicity of the outdoors and even some bar-b-q sauce favors, you couldn’t help but feel at home. Danielle’s family even catered the meal, and let me tell you, no caterer anywhere can compare to a great home-cooked meal. It was truly a time to celebrate their lives and their families, and I think that’s just what weddings should be.

FYI, I will be judging a student photography competition all week long in Orlando, so my phone/email responses may be slightly delayed. I’ll be back in my office Monday, August 10th. Thanks for your patience.

No country wedding would be complete without mason jars!

Danielle had her dad’s cross attached to her bouquet to keep his memory close to her heart on her wedding day. I thought that was a beautiful symbol of his spirit being present for this special occasion.

The adorable boys! I told them to hug each other, but it kind of ended up that they were squishing each other. LOL.

Their sweet flower girl. She will go down in history as one of my favorite ceremony moments. She looks happy in this picture, right? Well, she had a huge smile as she walked down the aisle, but she was saying, “I’m not happy about this!” over and over under her breath as she walked! I think she was a little nervous with all the eyes fixed on her. So cute.

Danielle’s brother had the honor of walking her down the aisle.

Amy: Senior

Last week I photographed the lovely Amy for her senior portrait session. Amy is Elijah’s aunt. (His mommy’s sister) And my husband grew up with Amy, Michelle and their brother, Herbert. I said to Mike last week, “I’m going to photograph Amy”. He said, “Why?” I said, “Because she’s a senior this fall”. Silence filled the room. “She’s a senior?” he asked doubtfully. The look on his face was saying, “I am not old enough for my friend’s youngest sister to be graduating high school!” Yes, you are, sweetheart.

Amy is incredibly sweet and such a beautiful girl. She is a great athlete, too. She’s hoping to get a volleyball scholarship, and we are all crossing our fingers with her! Amy, congrats to you! Enjoy your senior year. It will fly by, I promise. So glad I got to photograph you :)

I just love how these photos in the field turned out. Of course, I was really afraid of snakes. The grass was really high. Amy and I sent her mom ahead of us just to be safe. LOL.

Elijah: 4 Months

This little guy just celebrated 4 months of life! He was showing off his new skill of holding himself up during the session. His mommy and daddy are lucky to have such a sweet, happy little camper. He was great at his newborn session and he did great for this one, too. I’ll be seeing more of him when he starts sitting up and then for his 1st birthday :)

Parker is 2 – Part Two: Portraits

Part two. Portrait time! We were not only trying to get some pictures to celebrate Parker’s 2nd birthday, but we were also trying to get some pregnancy pics of Stephanie. Baby boy #2 will be here in just a few weeks. I can’t say enough about how much I love these guys. They’re not too bad to photograph either since they’re such a beautiful family :)

We’ve been planning these ice cream pictures for a while. Parker was sort of confused by the whole thing at the beginning.
