Judy & Justin: Engagement

Judy and Justin met during their freshman year at UF in Gainesville. It was a chance meeting. They lived on opposite sides of campus and had completely different majors. His dorm had a big event one night, and Judy was there. They eventually figured out that they had both grown up in South Florida. They decided to go on a date, and what a night that turned out to be! Neither one of them had a car in Gainesville. (Some crazy people told them that they wouldn’t need one. Ummm.. if you live anywhere in Florida, you need a car! Come on! I told them they were lied to. lol) They had to take a bus in the pouring rain to get to their date at Carrabba’s. So now, not only were they riding the bus, but the bus didn’t make a stop close to the restaurant. They had to walk the rest of the way in the rain. That crazy first date must have not been so bad, because they are now engaged :)
We did their engagement shoot on the UF campus where they met and had so many memories together. Their wedding will be at the amazing Baughman Center on campus. This place is
f-a-b-u-l-o-u-s and I cannot wait to shoot there. Judy and Justin were so much fun to photograph. They are totally in love, and I hope that I was able to do their relationship justice through the photos.
Can’t wait for 1-2-10! Thanks for letting me be a part of your engagement and wedding :)
(I wanted to get these images up today in honor of your team winning the National Championship last night. I’m sure you 2 were celebrating!)

The empty stadium was a great place for photos!

One of my favorites! Judy looks amazing!

These were fun :)

There’s the Baughman Center in the background.
The session just wouldn’t be complete without the orange and blue hats!

Hello, my poor neglected blog readers! It has been one of those weeks where I am running around like a crazy woman. I thought I’d take a minute and just give a little sneak peak of a fun engagement session I did last week up at UF in Gainesville. Here are 2 for now….

Best of 2008!

I am simply in awe of this past year. It amazes me when I think how 2008 began and now how it is ending. Last New Year’s Eve I was a photographer who was finally ready to take the next step. I had been working in the field for 5 years, but always for someone else. It finally felt like my turn to pursue my dream that I’d had since I was a teenager. And that’s how Heidi Mitchell Photography began.
I didn’t know what to expect. With no weddings or portrait sessions on the books, it was unclear to me whether or not I would be able to make this thing work. Twelve months later, I’ve completed 3 weddings and more than 30 portrait sessions. I have 9 weddings on the books for 2009 before the year has even started. I photographed a major event for the Florida Real Estate Journal and several things for Central Florida Health Alliance. I saw my images published on corporate websites, newspapers and magazines. I am truly overwhelmed by the way that my friends and community supported me, and I am humbled by the way that God blessed me this year.
A huge “thank you” is in order to all of you who invited me to document your wedding or get to know your family. Thank you for believing in me and supporting my dream. I am elated to see what 2009 has in store for my business and my family :)
Here are some of my favorite images from 2008! (Sit back and relax, because this is a long one!)

Jackson: 12 months

I’ve been photographing this little guy since before he was born! (His mom was one of the first pregnancy sessions I did) He just recently had his first birthday, so of course, we had to do a 1 year session. Jackson has been famous for his very contemplative and serious expressions in our previous sessions, and his mommy and I were determined to get smiles this time! lol. I knew we were in for a good day when I walked up to the car as they first arrived and Jackson shot me a huge, toothy smile. We broke the streak!
This guy is seriously cute and sweet! I’m so glad I’ve had the opportunity to document his 1st year of life! Now his mommy is pregnant with baby #2, so there will be plenty more cute photos in this family’s future :)
Showing off his walking skills!

It’s hard to choose, but this one may be my favorite :)

I think this was definitely Jackson’s favorite part of the session! He was intrigued by the playground (and the mulch, for that matter)!

Heidi Mitchell - I think he was making up for the previous sessions when I couldn’t get him to smile! ha ha. We definitely got some really good ones this time!January 1, 2009 – 6:39 pm

Ashley McCormick Photography - Holy cow this kid’s happy!! Love the photos :) What a cutie!December 31, 2008 – 11:39 pm

Griffin & Grant: Kiddos

Are you ready for this? You are about to see two of the cutest kids ever! I photographed cutie pie Griffin and his sweet baby brother Grant a few weeks ago in Charleston. On the way to the session, I thought to myself, “Am I really going to be able to photograph a 2 year old and a 2 month old in the same session?” But these two were great, and we totally pulled it off.
Don’t anyone go and tell Mike, but seeing little Grant gave me a small dose of “baby fever”.I had to get out of there so I could snap out of it! There’s just something about a sweet newborn. They get me every time :)
Thanks so much for having me into your home to photograph your beautiful family! Hopefully I’ll see you all again on the next visit.
Check out those baby blues!

Griffin’s favorite car made it into a few shots. Whatever it takes to keep them smiling!

*sigh*
Look at that sweet face
ummmmm…..seriously? I think we have a future model on our hands here!
Loving (and maybe squishing) his little brother :)

Favorite!
A smile! Can you believe it? I think that may be the fist time I’ve gotten a smile out of someone so small :)
