The Office: Sneak Peek

What a summer this has been! Mike & I welcomed a new addition to our family, and he’s now 3 months old! We were able to take some beach time recently and enjoy a vacation with our family. My “baby” brother turned 16, which makes me feel so old. And…..I signed the lease for a new office space/natural light studio!

I’ve wanted to have a space for a long time, but it just never worked out before. It finally all fell into place. I’ll be sharing the space with a friend/colleague, and she & I have been so busy getting it ready. We’ve been painting, shopping & tearing down wallpaper. Just a few short days until the wonderful flooring men come to transform the floors. I absolutely can’t wait to reveal the space once it’s all ready!

For now, here’s a little sneak peek. Even the front door will be transformed when we’re finished with this place ;)

Mark Brdley - You are truly amazing at what you do, the pictures prove it glad to see all is well congratulations on all parts and wish you luck as well as many bleesings for good things come to those who strive forward with the word of the Lord once again congratulationsAugust 26, 2010 – 12:46 am

Beach & Blogs!

First, if you haven’t seen my blog feature on Glamour and Grace Weddings blog, please check it out! I’m so thrilled that they wanted to show some of my work. It’s my first time being featured on a wedding inspiration blog, and it’s so incredible to see my photos posted there!!!

Second, just a quick note to say that I’ll be out of the office all of next week. We usually take a beach trip in the spring, but I was rather large & uncomfortable then, so we’re just getting around to taking our vacation. I’ll respond to emails and voicemails as soon as we’re back. Crossing my fingers for some good weather, and looking forward to spending some time with my boys :)

Lauren & Michael: Engagement Part II

A few months ago, I posted engagement photos of my younger brother and his fiance. We were planning on doing so much more that day, but we got rained out. Well then we were going to reschedule to finish their session, but it just didn’t work out to do before I had the baby. So finally….. we got to finish their engagement session last week!

Michael & Lauren are getting married at the adorable Lange Farm later this year, so she asked if we could do something kind of vintage-farm-country-ish. We have some friends who have this lovely barn on their property, so we decided it was the perfect setting. So I guess this is my first themed session. If you check out wedding planning & inspiration blogs at all, you know that the themed engagement session is big right now. I read a blog the other day that told photographers not to even submit their sessions for publishing unless it was themed! Because I strive to stay current and make sure I’m offering what brides want, I definitely wanted to dive in! Lauren had some awesome ideas and went thrift store shopping to get the look she wanted. It was so much fun, and I absolutely loved being creative and thinking outside of the “normal” engagement session box.

Since I loved it so much, I definitely want to do it again! If you have an engagement, couple’s or family session scheduled with me, let’s talk about how we can do a themed session that fits your personality.

Without further ado….Michael & Lauren’s vintage country engagement. Let me know what you think :)

Sometimes I like to include some out-takes from a session. Since they had to travel to get to the location, they needed to bring their dogs so they wouldn’t be left home alone all day. Well we weren’t exactly planning on adding them in the photos, but Ellie & Baloo had other plans! They jumped right in.

Baloo posing in the background while Ellie comes to check me out.

My brother has always been a bookworm. Some of my earliest memories of him involve him “reading” books, even though he definitely wasn’t old enough to actually read yet. With that in mind, we thought the vintage books would be a perfect addition to the session.

Steff - My favorite is the one where they are up in the barn. Cute Cute.August 4, 2010 – 9:07 pm

We were dying laughing at the one where Baloo posed and Elly was all up in the camera. So perfect! Heidi you are so talented! I am so lucky to have engagement photo’s like these. Shhh don’t tell Michael but that’s why I am marrying him. Just to get to you ;) hahaAugust 2, 2010 – 3:00 pm

Time Flies: Personal

My little man is 2 months old already! He has brought immeasurable joy and cuteness to our house. I thought I’d share a little of that today. It’s definitely different being a working mom now, but we’re figuring it all out.

Before I had Lincoln, I rarely ever took photos with my phone. Now, my cell phone is full of pictures of this guy.

Helping me edit.

Sleeping next to my desk while I work. Don’t let him fool you. This nap lasted all of 5 minutes. Seriously.

And of course I sometimes get out the real camera for some mini photo sessions with him.

caimbrin - this guy is too cute to boot!August 2, 2010 – 2:14 pm

Amanda & David: Engagement

When Amanda asked me if I thought that David’s family’s farm house and land complete with hay, cows & a tractor would be a cute place to take their engagement photos, I said definitely! I’m so glad she wanted to do them there. The session turned out to be so cute & so much fun. David had us cracking up the whole time. So much so that I’m thinking he’s going to be a lot of fun at their wedding. After all, I have heard from another photographer about his antics at a past wedding reception. It’s a small industry, David. Word gets around ;)

Amanda & David were so sweet, and I enjoyed getting to know them during their session. Oh, and a big thanks to David’s mom for chauffeuring us all around the property in her SUV! Can’t wait to see you guys at the wedding next month!
