Favorite Blog Post Ever: Personal

While most of life is made up of tiny, seemingly meaningless moments, there are big moments that define us and change the course of our lives. I’m thankful to have experienced a few of these lately.

The first came several weeks ago as I watched two pink lines slowly appear across the screen of a home pregnancy test. I don’t know if there has ever been a more significant moment shared between my husband and me.

The next came last week when I saw our baby and heard that little heartbeat for the first time. I sat on that table and felt the flood of tears fall down my cheeks in absolute wonder of the miracle I was watching on the screen.

Even though my body has not felt so great recently, (I feel like I’ve lived in a perpetual state of nausea for weeks!) my heart has ben full. There are simply no words to describe the feelings. All I can say is that I have a very happy heart.

My great friend, Ashley McCormick, took these for us last week. I’ve seen similar pictures done before, and I was so happy to finally have my turn :)

And my amazing baker-friend-extraodinarie, Andrea, made these super cute cookies as part of the fun of the big blog announcement. This will surely not help with my goal to only gain 25 pounds.

If you’re wondering how or if this changes business, this little paragraph is for you. I have always known that I wanted to be a mom. When I was choosing a career to pursue, I had this in mind. Being a photographer is a fantastic job for a mom. I work from home during the week, and I set my own schedule. My husband also owns a business, so one of the perks of his job is also setting his own schedule. Mike & I are blessed to live near lots of family and friends, which we know will come in handy in the months to come. So while I will obviously have to take some time off after the baby is born, soon after I will return to business as usual. I’m sure I’ll learn how to edit with an infant in my lap, but part of being a mom is multi-tasking! And when I need to meet a client or shoot a session or wedding, my husband or mom or sister-in-law or friends or mom-in-law have all offered to help out. So I will be back to work as soon as possible :)
